Please join Women Make Movies as they continue the conversation with four esteemed directors and producers, all members of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences:  Nancy Schwartzman, Susan Margolin, Christine Turner, and Lisa Cortés.

Nancy Schwartzman has garnered critical acclaim for her storytelling and impactful feature-length documentaries, her award-winning breakthrough documentary Roll Red Roll (2018, nominated for a Peabody Award and part of the WMM’s Production Assistance Program, followed by the non-fiction book, Roll Red Roll: Rape, Power and Football in the American Heartland), Victim/Suspect (2023, Netflix Original Documentary in partnership with the Center for Investigative Reporting and Motto Pictures, nominated for Critic’s Choice Award and Sundance Film Festival’s Grand Jury Prize.)

Now Nancy has moved into original series directing and executive producing the upcoming Sasha Reid and the Midnight Order for Freeform/Disney+, produced in collaboration with XTR Studios. She is additionally tech founder and created the Circle of 6 safety app.

For her human rights filmmaking and technology development to prevent sexual violence, she is the winner of awards from the Obama/Biden White House, the United Nations and the Avon Foundation.
